Job Title: Housing Support Worker

Job Type: Full-time

Shift Information: Midnights 11pm-7am, Monday-Sunday, 35 hours per week

Rate of Pay: $22/hr

Family Services Windsor-Essex (FSWE) is a non-profit, charitable organization serving Windsor and Essex County. FSWE helps people to restore their ability to choose their own place in the world through counselling and individual support services. FSWE believes that what makes us human is the drive to self-determination. When people lose this drive due to injustices such as trauma, poverty, exclusion, and discrimination, FSWE provides support to build resiliency and restore people’s ability to choose their own place in the world.

We are currently looking for a Housing Support Worker who will provide services for clients who have histories of homelessness, psychiatric disability, substance abuse, criminal justice, and other trauma.

As a Housing Support Worker your contribution to the team will include:

  • Assisting residents of a supportive housing facility with activities of daily living: laundry, housekeeping, etc.
  • Communicate effectively with clients including active listening and problem solving
  • Monitor client activities and provide effective intervention in crisis situations
  • Work cooperatively with other staff, volunteers, agencies and clients
  • Support a harm reduction model in the community
  • Maintain computerized records and complete other program documentation


Minimum Qualifications:

  • University Degree or College Diploma
  • Experience working within the housing industry and homelessness preferred
  • Knowledge of community programs and services in Windsor Essex County is Essential and understanding of the Housing First model and principles
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, insurance and use of your own vehicle


  • First Aid Training is an asset
  • French language skills would be considered an asset
